CPEP is a therapy that delivers lung expansion.  A consistent clinician-set airway pressure is used during both inspiration and expiration by employing continuous flow, a venturi, and a fixed orifice resistor.

The purpose of this therapy is to:

1. Prevent or reverse atelectasis;

2. Aid in the mobilization of retained secretions;

3. Reduce the incidence of air trapping.
